Fire & Flower receives two retail licences in downtown Edmonton

Fire & Flower Inc. said Thursday it has received two additional cannabis retail store licences from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) for locations in downtown Edmonton. The retailer, Which now owns or has interest in 30 cannabis retail store licenses across the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Yukon territory, said it expects the two stores to open during the week of Sept. 9. “As an Edmonton-based company, we are thrilled to be opening the very first cannabis retail store in the city’s vibrant and growing downtown core,” said Trevor Fencott, Fire & Flower’s Chief Executive Officer. “These are both major locations in the key metropolitan market of Edmonton.

Neptune creates two new roles to support expansion

Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc. said Thursday it has appointed Stephen Lijoi as vice-president of operations, and José Dominguez as cannabis sommelier and formulation specialist. The Laval, Que.-based extraction company said Mr. Lijoi will oversee all of Neptune’s extraction, manufacturing and packaging operations at the company’s two facilities in Sherbrooke, Que., and Conover, North Carolina. Mr. Dominguez will be responsible for creating, designing and formulating vape pens for Neptune, and will assit in producing several other products, which will include tinctures, topicals and beverages.

New Mexico investigating possible link between vaping and lung disease

The New Mexico Department of Health is investigating possible cases of lung disease associated with vaping and recommends against using vaping cartridges containing an active ingredient of marijuana. The department said in a statement Wednesday that a 29-year-old Albuquerque area man has been determined to have lung disease associated with vaping and that three additional cases are under investigation. The department also says all of those people reporting using vaping cartridges and that those cartridges might have contained cannabinol, an active ingredient of marijuana. According to the department, similar cases have been reported in at least 14 other states and federal and state agencies are investigating possible causes. The department urged health providers to report cases of lung disease possibly associated with vaping.
