Eugenie Bouchard advanced on Tuesday to the second round of the Luxembourg Open after defeating Timea Babos of Hungary 6-4, 6-2.

Bouchard will next face No. 3 seed Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in the Round of 16. The tournament is limited to 32 players.

Babos had defeated Bouchard both times they played previously but the Canadian star had the advantage of lots of practice by having played through qualifying to reach the main draw.

The pair traded breaks until the 10th game of the first set when Bouchard, with two set points in hand, fired a slicing ace to win in 41 minutes.

In the second set, the Canadian reeled off the final four games to win the match in 1 hour and 12 minutes.

On Monday, Bouchard completed her sweep through the qualifying round by defeating Jessika Ponchet of France, 6-2, 7-5.

Bouchard had never faced Ponchet before Monday. The Canadian star broke early and wrapped up the first set in just 43 minutes.

The pair traded breaks early in the second set before Bouchard broke Ponchet in the 11th game, then held serve to win.

On Sunday, Bouchard defeated Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann 6-3, 6-1 in an earlier qualifying round.
