The action
This roughly 40-year-old bungalow on a 30-by-100-foot lot close to Stan Wadlow and Taylor Creek parks got a fresh coat of paint and some staging to show off its combination of modern updates and classic lines. Those moves helped win over a swarm of house hunters, 21 of whom braved a cold snap to submit bids in late January.
“I priced it low, but it was a zoo with one [offer] after another,” agent Andrew Ipekian said.
“You don’t generally expect that … in the winter. That’s more like the spring market in 2017 when it was crazy.”
What they got
Save for new roofing and hot water heating system added in 2017, this two-bedroom house was kept in fairly original form with traditional living and dining rooms and hardwood floors throughout.
Below is a one-bedroom basement suite with cooking and entertaining quarters and two entrances, including one exiting to the private driveway and double garage.
The agent’s take
“It’s hard to find a detached [home] under $1-million, so there were a lot of first-time home buyers, and because it had potential to rent out the basement, that made the home even more affordable,” Mr. Ipekian said.
“And it’s in close proximity to the Danforth, which people seemed to like.”
