IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY

You may be inclined to take up an offer of a leadership role this year but before you do you must make sure it’s what you truly desire, and that you are up to the task. Try not to make life more difficult than it has to be. Keep it simple.

ARIES (March 21 - April 20):

No matter which way you turn of late there seem to be obstacles blocking your path. The sun in one of the more sensitive areas of your chart is to blame but its influence won’t last forever. Start making big plans for later in the month.

TAURUS (April 21 - May 21):

It’s good to be assertive but today’s sun-Pluto link warns there is also a danger that you will go over the top and do or say something that annoys powerful people. Try putting your brain into gear before opening your mouth – it usually helps.

GEMINI (May 22 - June 21):

Chances are you will fall out with someone you live or work with today and it may seem like a superbig deal at the time. But it isn’t, not really – in fact in the greater scheme of things it is of laughably little importance, so don’t overreact.

CANCER (June 22 - July 23):

It may seem as if everyone is ganging up on you but it isn’t remotely true, so don’t hit back and do things you might later regret. Also, if you expect others to use their power wisely then you must use your power wisely too. Don’t forget that.

LEO (July 24 - Aug. 23):

Your can-do attitude will impress people in positions of authority today but don’t make the kind of outrageous claims or promises that may be impossible to keep. You are miles ahead of your rivals already, so why would you want to exaggerate?

VIRGO (Aug. 24 - Sept. 23):

You may want to keep a low profile at the moment but the planets indicate that won’t be possible. Employers and colleagues will demand that you stay on top of your workload and provide them with updates on your progress. Keep them happy.

LIBRA (Sept. 24 - Oct. 23):

Today’s sun-Pluto link warns you could say or do things today that both family members and workmates find hard to believe you are capable of. You will know if you have gone too far – and if you do, make sure you apologize quickly.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24 - Nov. 22):

Keep your ideas and opinions to yourself over the next 24 hours. The sun at odds with your ruling planet Pluto means it’s highly unlikely that your thoughts on the issues of the day will go down well with others. A good day to stay silent.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23 - Dec. 21):

You must not make public information that was given to you in confidence. If you do you will break a bond of trust that may have taken years to put together. No matter how juicy the gossip may be you can and you must keep it to yourself.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 - Jan. 20):

As the sun opposes Pluto in your sign today you should think twice, and then think again just to be sure, before saying anything that partners and loved ones might take the wrong way. You should be building bridges now, not destroying them!

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 - Feb. 19):

Why are you so determined to find hidden meanings in everything you see and hear? No doubt it’s because Pluto, planet of intrigue, is moving through the most secretive area of your chart. There’s no great conspiracy Aquarius – there very rarely is.

PISCES (Feb. 20 - Mar. 20):

Try not to take what you hear today at face value, because the planets warn that most likely someone is trying to mislead you. Even those you usually trust may be inclined to twist the news a bit, so stick with what your instincts tell you.
