deals of the week

Here are four of our favourite deals this week

The Canadian market remains one of the brightest spots in the global automotive industry as sales volumes reach highs that have started to make many industry watchers nervous. Over two million new vehicles were sold in 2017 in Canada, representing an increase of 4.6 per cent over the prior year. However, new vehicle sales in the United States finally began to retreat in 2017, with volumes down by nearly 2 per cent as compared to the prior year after nearly a decade of growth.

While the total size of the market has experienced healthy growth in recent history, competition remains as fierce as ever. The battle for market share between incumbent rivals is further intensified by new entrants that have made recent Canadian debuts, such as new luxury brands Genesis Motors and Alfa Romeo.

Here are Canada's top 10 most popular makes by market share in 2017:

  1. Ford (14.7 per cent)
  2. Toyota (9.8 per cent)
  3. Honda (8.7 per cent)
  4. Chevrolet (8.4 per cent)
  5. Nissan (6.6 per cent)
  6. Hyundai (6.3 per cent)
  7. Ram (5.1 per cent)
  8. GMC (4.9 per cent)
  9. Kia (3.7 per cent)
  10. Dodge (3.7 per cent)
