In recent years, auto makers have added SUVs of all sizes and affordability to their lineups to appeal to a diverse customer base

Sales volumes of new light trucks, which include pickup trucks, vans and SUVs, have greatly overshadowed sales of passenger cars, which include sedans, hatchbacks and coupes, so far in 2017. New light-truck sales this year as of November have exceeded 1.3 million units, up 9.4 per cent year-over-year, as compared to just over 600,000 passenger cars sold in the same period, a decline of 3.3 per cent from last year.

Even within the light trucks segment, SUVs have emerged as the biggest winner this year. According to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, SUVs represented approximately 40 per cent of all vehicles sold, up from just 15 per cent in 2002. In recent years, consumers have experienced an explosion of choice as auto makers continue to add SUVs of all sizes and levels of affordability in order to appeal to a diverse customer base.

We've featured some of our favourite offers this week on SUVs for $30,000 or less. If you don't find an offer that suits you, be sure to check out the Globe Drive Build and Price Tool to see the latest incentives and discounts on any new car, truck or SUV.
