When it comes to the pursuit of speed, we seem to have no limit. The Ford Model T, the first production car, featured a 20 horsepower engine and reached a top speed of about 70 km/h – a profound technical achievement at the time.
Yet just over a century later, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, now the world’s fastest production car, puts out over a thousand horsepower and tops out at a record-breaking 445 km/h. Certainly, a new milestone will be reached in the near future, only to be surpassed once again soon after.
While most of the highest-profile sports cars made by the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti and others are often out of reach of most consumers due to their exorbitant cost, many automakers produce much more affordable high-performance vehicles.
