One person is dead after a fire at a residence in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood Tuesday night.

District Chief Stephan Powell says the call came in at about 10:30 p.m. of a fire at a three-storey residential building.

He says firefighters managed to knock down the fire, but upon searching the home discovered one person who had “succumbed to his injuries.”

Another person, described as a bystander, was taken to hospital.

Powell says police and the Ontario fire marshal’s office are investigating, and there’s no word yet on what caused the fire.

Fire Chief Matthew Pegg tweeted early Wednesday that arrangements were being made for other residents displaced by the fire.
