Police say an explosion at a home in Brampton, Ont., has injured three people, including a five-year-old child.

Peel Regional Police say they were called to the residence on Tuesday afternoon.

They say two people sustained minor injuries, while the child was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say they have evacuated residences on both sides of the home where the blast took place.

They say the extent of structural damage and cause of the explosion is still unknown.

The incident is under investigation.
