Tesla Inc. sued a former employee, claiming he hacked the company’s confidential and trade secret information, transferring several gigabytes to outside entities.

Tesla claims Martin Tripp, who worked at the Nevada Gigafactory as a process technician since October, stole data that included dozens of confidential photographs and a video of the company’s manufacturing system. He also lied to the media about the information, claiming, for example, punctured battery cells were used in vehicles, batteries and otherwise, Tesla said.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Nevada federal court.
